Catching Up

It's been a bit hectic around here, but I've played a little golf too. We're expecting a baby out of my wife Nicki at any time, so that is the major focus right now.

I didn't play great in Price at the Black Diamond. I feel like I learned a lot, though, so the trip was a success. Made a bit of money too.

Today was the Brigham City Open. I didn't hit it too good today, but every putt had a chance. It was nice. I just switched to the Taylormade Ghost, and the hole looks like a bucket. I suspect a better pre shot routine has a lot to do with it as well. I ended up with a 66, good enough for 2nd in this one day tourney.

So now we wait for little Zac to make an appearance. August will be a big golf month, so I'll be working hard to try to get a cushion going into the winter.

JULY Preview

July is a slow golf month on the Utah golf scene.  I'm planning on playing twice, at the Black Diamond (the tournament my dad got going) and the Brigham City Open.  Both are fairly small, but would be nice little jumpstarts to the end of the year.

August is a big month.  The Utah Open is by far the biggest local tournament, offering what would be a huge check for first.  It is also time for the Utah Nationwide Tour event qualifying.  Playing in that again would be a huge blessing.  Finally, my wife is due to have our little boy August 17th!!!!  The doctor has been saying that it looks like it could be a few weeks early.  We can't wait!

My golf game feels solid right now.  I have seen a slip in my ball striking stats lately.  I began working on my mechanics a couple months ago, and it really seemed to affect my game.  Pulling off shots in tournaments got tough, but I think I'm past the big stuff.  I'm hitting some shots once again, so I'm looking forward to getting into action.
