Palisade Open

I played decent in a little local tournament this week.  If I can find a way to stop throwing a few shots away each day, I'll be in business.  72-66 put me in 4th.  Not a bad weekend.

I should be able to play a bit more golf the next few weeks.  I've got the Saltwater classic next weekend, then another two day local event the next weekend.  Then it's off to Denver for the US Open sectional.  Hopefully I'll have some wedges by then...

Game feels good.  Hopefully we can get some momentum going the next few weeks.

US Open Local

Birdied the first hole of a 4 man playoff to get the last spot in the local qualifier today. It was a long day, but a great way to tie things up.

I really drove the ball well today. I was all around the hole for the first 11, not being able to get anything to go in. I was even on 12 green when I made a 40 footer for birdie. That was the start of 3 straight before I cooled off. I had a simple chip on 18 that I thought I had to make. Ran it 6 feet by and had a tough side hiller coming back. Miss.

After that it was a lot of waiting. It was a blessing just to get into the playoff, so I was stoked. Three perfect shots later and I had a spot.

So now its off to Denver for the sectional qualifying June 7. Get through there and its time for Pebble.

Spanish Oaks Finish

I just didn't get any putts to go in today. It was tough. It felt good to get the juices flowing, to be in the hunt. Overall, it felt like it helped to have something on the line. I missed a couple putts that I never should have missed. Other than that, it was a solid week. For not being "prepared," I was very pleased. 65-73-138. 3rd. Not a bad start to 2010. I've got a lot of stuff to work on. Looking forward to working on it!! US Open qualifying 1 week away. Luke

Spanish Oaks Open Round 1

It's been 7 years since I've been able to play in the Spanish Oaks Open.  It's a local tournament where I watched my dad win when I was little.  Finally getting to play in it as a pro is pretty cool.

I haven't been able to practice much the last few weeks, things have been pretty hectic.  We've just completed moving, which always sucks up vast amounts of time.  So, I wasn't sure what I was going to have for the boys this week.

I got off to a rough start, three putting my first hole for par.  A couple of poor drives had me scrambling to make pars on the next few holes.  My mid range putting was stellar, though, so I was able to make up a lot of shots.  Ending the day with a bogey free 65 is never bad.

The one major thing I see in my game with lack of play is silly little mistakes.  Staying focused on every shot doesn't seem as easy.

So, I haven't seen the scoreboard yet, but I should be well into the mix of things starting the day out.  Looking to get hot.
