Got here yesterday. I wasn't sure that we were even going to get any this year, as nice as it's been. Looks like it should melt pretty quickly, so the courses won't stay closed long.
It's that time of year, though. Not many tournaments going on, anyways. The only one I know of is the Nevada Open (in Mesquite) next week. It will be my first time missing it as a pro. Not a huge deal, though. The huge field, and the huge entry fee make it a tough money making proposition. Add in the fact that it is one of the toughest fields (nowhere else to play, so everyone heads to Mesquite) of the year, and it's just not the worst tournament to miss.
Still wish I was playing, though :).
Speaking of Mesquite, I've been paying attention to the Big Break this year. For the first time I know some of the guys. I've also played the courses they're using so many times I can't count. It is surreal watching guys I know playing courses I know on a reality TV show. I don't think I could really get into the show if I didn't know the players, but it's quite interesting. Some of the best players in the bunch went out early. The contests they have won't necessarily bring the best player to the top, but it makes for good TV.
Not a lot of golf posts to be made right now, but I'll keep you updated.

Back to Normal?
I played some more golf yesterday. It was cold, and we were the only ones on the course. People turn into wimps this time of year. Anyways, my new "back to aggressive" swing was the ticket. I played better than I have in a long time. Hit pretty much every shot good, and made some putts too. I haven't played much at all the last 3 weeks, so to go out and play so good really gives me some confidence.
I'm excited again, now I just need to get into some tournaments.

It's All in the Little Things
Played a little golf with my buddy Nick yesterday. I hadn't played a real round of golf in awhile, so it was good to get back out there. I didn't play great, but I hit some good shots. When I realized how badly I was guiding the ball, I really put some good swings on it (too bad that was on 18).
I think that was a big part of my poor play down the stretch this year. I was thinking of so many things, just not about putting an aggressive swing on the ball. It's a funny situation that comes up. I didn't feel like I was swinging defensively, but I was. Sometimes it takes a little time away from things to realize exactly what the problem is.
Yesterday I really started to feel like I had no clubhead speed. Couldn't figure it out 'til 18. Then I thought back on the last couple months and it fit in exactly. I don't know if this will be a game changing realization or not. I surely knew how important an aggressive swing is then, too. I just need to play golf. That's it. I'm good enough to compete, I just have to stop trying to force perfect shots.

Racing
My dad knew we all needed a little break from real life, so he decided to take me and my brother to Phoenix for the NASCAR race. Now we're all really broke, but it was great to hang out with them for a weekend. Just what we needed.
We've all gotten deep into racing over the past two years. My dad has made it to a couple races, and he really wanted us to see it close up. It was really amazing. Except having to watch Dale Jr. head to the garage early, it couldn't have been a better weekend.

The Swilor Boys in Front of the 8 Car (Wait, my brother
got switched out with some giant. Nope thats him).

Back to work now. If anyone close to Salt Lake need a lesson before the weather gets bad, send me a message. I'm trying to give some lessons for the next couple months.

What Now?
So the season has wound down, now what do I do? In years past, I went into the winter with at least a little cushion, where I could work on my game and go to some small tournaments to keep in shape. This year? Not so much.
Bad play coupled with my stupid car trouble has made that a lot harder this year. I have to make a little money. So I have to find something to do in the next three months that will still allow me to prepare for next year. I still have such a huge opportunity with my Canadian Tour card, and I need to take advantage of that. There are still a few decent tournaments going on throughout the winter months that I need to try to play in too.
So, I'll be beating the bushes looking for something that will keep me afloat, while giving me time to work on my game. At the same time I have to look for a little funding for next year. This is the worst part of professional golf: funding. Good play, though, will always make this part easier (because you don't have to do it). So basically I'm saying I need to play better. Shoot some low scores dummy.
