It's Here

The cold and snow have finally come. It was just a dusting, but mixed with the temperature it makes it hard to practice. So, I'm going to head south for a couple days of practice. The Nevada Open is next week, so I need to be in some sort of form.

After that, I'm not totally sure what I'm going to do until the new year. I might play in a couple of small mini tour events, but I need to be ready early next year. I'm planning on playing the US Pro Golf Tour, and the "ranking school" is first thing in January. So these trips south might become a normal occurrence. We'll see.

Fall Classic Wrap Up

It was a fun little trip to Mesquite for the Fall Classic. I managed to stay away from the tables (for the most part), and played some pretty good golf. I hadn't played much (hardly at all) since tour school, so I was happy with my play. 72-66 left me tied for 6th, not bad. I had a fun team of guys from Phoenix, and though we had fun, the team missed the money.

I actually hit the ball better the first day, but the greens on the first course were not in good shape. I only made two birdies (par 5s) and missed a couple of short putts for my only bogies. I had a ton of chances, but couldn't convert.

Day two I just played solid golf and was able to make the short putts that I didn't on day one. The greens were much better on the second course, so that had a lot to do with the lower score. I had no bogies (always very nice), and it was just a stress-free, easy round.

Back home now. Not really sure what is next, but I'm working on it. Should know soon, and there are quite a few tournaments starting at the first of the year.

Heading South

I'm leaving today for the Mesquite Fall Classic Pro-am. Perfect timing, as the weather up here seems to be going downhill. It should be good to play in a tournament, although I have been a bit impatient on the course since Tour School. My dad warned me of this. He said the first few weeks after missing at Tour School can be a bit rough, but it will get back to normal. I think I am almost "over" it, and if I can keep the impatience in check it should be a good couple of days.

Mesquite Fall Classic

The 2006 season is coming to a close. Not many tournaments to be found this time of year, so I am really looking forward to playing next week. The tournament is a pro-am, with the pros competing for their own purse. Two days, two courses, two low scores should do just fine.

November marks the last month of (hopefully) decent weather in the great city of Salt Lake City, so I'll be taking advantage of it this week. We get to play golf pretty much year round, but we will get some mandatory time off due to snow. It melts, then we put on the parka and play through the cold. I hope to be in warmer places during those periods of snow, so I'll be hunting down some tournaments.

Go Jazz. They look very good, and healthy, this year. 3-0 baby. (Hope I don't jinx them)
